Sign #2 — Langley, Washington, is a magical small town located on Whidbey Island, it’s where my family lives and is a special place for us!
My dad and I first visited the island in 2009, peak Twilight fangirl time. We drove the entire length of this island and felt an instant connection to the area. Hard to believe that a decade later, my family ended up moving here. First, my dad and step-mom, then my brother and his fiancé, and now my grandparents own a vacation home here too. Maybe one day, I will follow suit hehe.
In 2021, when Spencer and I took our first road trip after the loneliness of 2020, we made Langley our destination to visit my family. I had to commemorate the visit with a cookie dedicated to one of the special places in town, which is a little blue bakery (no longer in business) that belongs to Peter, the owner of the former bakery. He no longer operates the bakery downstairs, but he does live upstairs. He would sometimes make some things in the bakery, and on the day of our visit, he was down in the shop!! It was so unexpected and kismet, I couldn’t believe it.
Getting to share the cookie and moment with Peter was super special. He loved the cookie, and to this day, it sits on one of the shelves behind the bakery counter. Each time I have visited since 2021, I will peek through the window to find my cookie still sitting on the shelf — it just warms my heart.
